United Methodist Pastors Unite for Gay Marriage

In case you haven't heard about this story, let me explain what is going on in Pennsylvania. More than 30 United Methodist pastors from eastern Pennsylvania have agreed to officiate a same sex marriage next month to support another Methodist pastor who married his gay son to another man in 2007. In fact 3 of his 4 children are gay.  Do we live in a fallen world? Yes. But should we be surprised this is occurring inside liberal denominations and churches? No, because Paul and other New Testament writers wrote about sexual immorality, unnatural relations, mental perversions, impure thoughts, and the punishment for practicing such perversions to members of first century churches in their epistles. There were individuals who were engaging in these immoral acts and threatening to corrupt others. These individuals tasted the goodness of Christ but never truly swallowed it, i.e., they were false converts.  In fact, Paul commanded the Corinthian church to flee or "run in terror" from sexual immorality. Paul condemns homosexuality in Romans 1:26-28 because it's condemned in Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13. Its' immoral, whether in thought or action!
Has God delivered some homosexuals over to degrading passions and a worthless mind to do what is morally wrong (Romans 1:26, 28)? Only He knows. Christians must be committed to praying for the salvation and repentance of homosexuals and all who are spiritually lost. But homosexuality is damaging in so many ways, too many to list on this blog post.

What we are seeing is what Solomon wrote in Proverbs 16:25, "There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death." Whether its homosexuals, murders, drug dealers, liars, cheaters, or pastors who support, applaud, and marry homosexuals. Forgiveness awaits for any who humble themselves and come to the Lord in repentance.

In 2012, the United Methodist church voted 61% against versus 39% in favor of amending their stance on homosexuality as a teaching compatible with Christianity. Nearly 40% of the denomination is in favor! This is concerning not just for Methodists, but for Christianity as a whole.

Pray for the United Methodist church that this homosexual trend of "pro-gay" congregants and liberalism that has crept into the church will be reversed by a conservative and orthodox movement.
