In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells believers "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt should lose its taste, how can it be made salty? It's no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled." Jesus wanted His disciples to be a purifying agent and it only makes sense. His believers are to be examples of righteous living and to proclaim the gospel. But what happens when Christians lose their saltiness? In our present day, they begin to look like non-believers, they turn to unrighteous living and slowly slide into a pit of immorality and impurity. It also could show that they were never true beleivers to begin with. So if you want to be of use to the Lord, remain salty and vibrant. When Jesus comes into our lives, He invites us to live life with Him and for Him. Following Jesus involves repentance and receiving a new identity.
You walk away from your old life in order to gain all Christ has for you!
